Herpes - The Most Significant Attribute.

Herpes is a disease that is responsible for outbreaks on the skin. There are many strains of the virus, and each strain causes a similar but different type of flare up.

Two herpes family strains are paramount. The strain that will affect the upper body (above the waistline) is herpes simplex virus 1 or HSV 1. This virus causes mainly oral herpes.

Herpes Transmission

Another dominant member of the herpes family is herpes simplex 2. HSV 2 is the virus responsible for genital herpes. The types of sores and eruptions caused by this virus are outlined in greater detail below.

Herpes simplex 1 is the mildest form of the herpes virus. The outbreaks are cold sores, or fever blisters, that are found inside or outside the on the outside of the lips. This disease is (transmittable and there is no cure. The way to pass this disease is by the contact with the lesions. This virus can also result in genital herpes, but it is mainly located around the mouth.

The fever blisters that sometimes appear in and around the mouth when one is getting a cold or flu are typical of HSV 1. This is called to as oral herpes.

Herpes simplex 2 is the most commonly talked about form of herpes. HSV 2 is passed through sexual activity. The lesions that occur from this strain are similar to cold sores; The herpes virus that causes genital herpes is the virus that is the most virulent. HSV 2 causes lesions and blisters on the genitalia and surrounding pubic areas including the buttocks and the anus.

Genital herpes (the blisters) in males will breakthrough on the penis shaft, the anus, the buttocks and even on the inner thighs and lower back. Woman will see the eruptions appearing over the whole of the pubic area, including the anus and buttocks. Often the outbreak is that mild that a torch or flashlight is used during the examination.

The sores that appear when you have an outbreak of herpes simplex 2 can resemble a paper cut, simply look chafed or appear only slightly more red than usual. Experiencing aches and pains in the affected area could occur as well as a secretiondischarge from the penis or vagina.

Initial outbreaks are usually more severe, and generally involve flu-like symptoms and swollen glands for a week or so. Following herpes eruptions tend to be periodic and only occur about five times a year. These herpes outbreaks can also be brought on the stress level of the infected person. The outbreak may also be elongated due to depression.
